Come New Year’s Eve, Las Vegas will have a new nightclub to add to its roster, making a home in the famed Cosmopolitan Hotel– and we promise, this isn’t you’re usual nightlife destination. The venerable owner’s of Tao and Lavo bring New York’s famed ultralounge Marquee to the city of sin, but with a twist.
The 63,000 square foot indoor and outdoor venue, boasting a poolside lounge, will be open 18 hours a day. That’s right, not only are we sure Marquee will be crawling with celebs and the city’s hottest VIPs, but the new hotspot will become a measuring stick for those ready to prove their party animal status.
Last night was a night for the ladies in New York City as some of the most important women of our time graced the stage of Carnegie Hall for the 20th anniversary of Glamour’s Women of the Year Awards.
From Oprah, Donatella Versace, and cover girl Fergie to Queen Raina of Jordan, the awards ceremony celebrated women in entertainment, fashion, politics, as well as their humanitarian efforts. Queen Raina, in particular, is a woman we can all look up to. She is a modern queen who not only tweets and has an incredible sense of style, but also fights for the education of women worldwide.
The night was best summed up by Lifetime Acheivement Award winner Cher who boasted, “What I want you girls and what I want for everyone, especially women, is that they don’t take no for an answer because no is just some bullsh-t word that someone made up.”
You can find more of Glamour’s favorite moments of the night here, and be sure to check out photos from the star-studded red carpet below.
Every girl has her go-to Little Black Dress, but come Fall, it’s hard to sex it up a notch without the option of a little extra skin.
Take it from leading ladies like Jessica Biel, Sarah Jessica Parker, and up-and-coming indie darling Carey Mulligan when it comes to playing the fine line between revealing and chic.
Pairing a peek-a-boo top with a longer and more demure skirt bring an essence of efortless class to the ensemble– add a pair of your favorite heels (we especially like SJP’s hint of HPNOTIQ blue) and you’ll be sure to turn a couple of heads at dinner.
So girls, do you think this look is too buttoned up and matronly? Or are you checking the balance on your credit card to hit up the mall as we speak?
…and for a fraction of the cost!

With this week’s election, you may have found yourself thinking about the effects that politics and the economy have on your everyday life– and we’re not talking about tax cuts. When a country is at war or under political distress the height of women’s high heels tends to skyrocket. Not to mention masculine styles, such as all the boyfriend sweaters and military-inspired wear of the last few seasons, dominating the clothing styles. This overall toughening up makes sense if you think about it– fashion and femininity tend to take a serious back seat to the socio-economic realities of the time.
Now let’s flash forward to Fall 2010 and take a look at what the current fashion trends say about us. With a the revival of kitten heels, pointed toes, pleated skirts with voluminous fabrics, wasp waists, jewel tones, long, gold-gilded pendant necklaces, cat eye sunglasses… yes, Joan Holloway, we’d say the details that separate the girls from the boys have made a look-at-me comeback.
Last night the Kardashian sisters celebrated the opening of the New York City location of the family boutique, Dash– and we’re excited to announce that the store is officially open for business!
With stores in Miami and Los Angeles already, the empire is growing! Now every HPNOTIQ girl in the NYC area can get her glam on with looks from the sisters’ favorite designers… including a line from, wait for it, Scott Disick. That’s right, the boutique is set to carry Kourtney’s baby daddy’s line. And although we’ve heard the collection tips a hat to classic American designers such as Ralph Lauren and Tom Ford, we’re not sold quite yet.
Ok, so maybe Project Runway winner Gretchen Jones may have been a bit of a pill sometimes, but we can’t help but love her.
At the beginning of Season 8 of the now Lifetime hit series, Jones tugged at our heartstrings with a rags-to-hopefully-riches tale. Her sustainable clothing line, MothLove, with an environmentally conscious focus on a minimal and romantic Bohemian aesthetic, had left her with a nearly empty bank account and what we sensed was a fairly difficult upbringing.
But as the Portland, Oregon native started to win those challenges back to back, her ego began to inflate and she could, at times, be a bit much– at one point even being called a “bully” by the usually super supportive mother hen, Tim Gunn, during one of the challenges.
This week the newest in nightlife extravagance, Chicago’s Palace Nightclub, officially opened it’s doors to the public– and the 25,000 square foot club is sure to continue on a wild streak. With recent closings of legendary hotspots such as Level, Crobar, Mannequin, and Religion, Chicago has faced a bit of a drought when it comes to the next big scene… but Palace is here to quench the city’s thirst.
With one of our favorite HPNOTIQ girls heading back to MTV for another round of reality tv, Lauren Conrad has made a name for herself as not just an awesome BFF but as a smart and confident young woman. While working on two new clothing labels, Lauren Conrad Collection and LC Lauren Conrad for Kohl’s, cameras will follow the Los Angeles it-girl on her new business endeavors– and we can’t wait to see the drama unfold.
But maybe all the drama won’t be happening on screen but in the ratings room, as gal pal Audrina Patridge confirmed her very own reality show for VH1, on the heels of her elimination from Dancing With The Stars, that will focus on her life and career living in Hollywood while trying to make it as an actress. Sounds a bit like The Hills knockoff to us… but Patridge seems to think there’s room on the small screen for everyone.
“I don’t think we’re competition because we’re two different people,” she told OK! magazine. “[Lauren's show] is about fashion and she is the reality queen. She’s done it for a long time, but it’s two different shows so … I don’t think there’s a lot of competition there.”
We wonder if the former BFFs will be making cameos for one another… Which show will you watch?
