On newsstands as of today, you can catch teen sensation Miley Cyrus on the cover of next month’s Marie Claire magazine in a beautiful Roberto Cavalli gown– showing us once again, that she’s all grown up.
But in the last few months, tabloids have been speculating that the Hannah Montana star may be growing up in the fast lane to disaster… or at least, making a few wrong turns along the way. But in the pages of Marie Claire, the starlet stays light-hearted and optomistic about her future.
“I’ve never, ever claimed to be perfect,” says Miley, claiming that in her case this is actually an advantage.
“I mean, since I’ve started the show, I’ve always said, ‘I’m gonna make mistakes.’ I know this. And I think that that is one of the reasons why people related to me. Why kids related to me,” she continued.
When asked about the now infamous ‘bong incident,’ Marie Claire points out that there’s many a college student doing the same, if not worse, than Miley is at her age.
“But they’re not Miley Cyrus,” she says. “They’re not role models. So for me it was a bad decision, because of my fans and because of what I stand for.”
Bottom line is, we believe her. Considering we’ve all seen our share of unhinged young Hollywood (read: Lindsay Lohan), and Miley seems to have a good head on her shoulders if you exclude the reasonable teenage shenanigans she’s recently been tied to. And we definitely don’t think she’s on the road to be the next Michael Jackson… which, apparently, her father (who graces the cover of this month’s GQ- coincidence?) does.
But I think we can all agree here, Miley– leave the Living Louder to the 21-year-olds.
