You May Have Had Your Doubts… But Britney’s Back, Y’all

We brought you the newest single from Britney Spears on our Facebook page a few weeks ago, but the official release of the “Hold It Against Me” video tops anything we thought to expect from Miss Spears… proving to us, and the world, that the pop sensation is definitely back!

According to Brian Friedman, the video’s choreographer, Spears is “definitely setting the bar” with ‘Hold It Against Me.’ “She’s showing that you have to push it as an artist: that you can’t just settle, that you can’t be calm with your choreography, that you have to make a statement,” he told MTV. “There’s so many people out there competing in this world to be the queen of pop, and she’s definitely claiming her throne.”

Check out the Jonas Akerland (of Lady Gaga “Telephone” fame) directed epic below and if you don’t like it, you better watch out!! Britney’s highly anticipated album, Femme Fatale, will be out on March 29th… and we can barely keep it together! You go, girl!

Rihanna May Need a Stylist Intervention…

By now, we’ve gotten used to Rihanna’s sometimes questionable style. The pop princess always pushes it to that fine line between simply amazing and, well, “what was she thinking!?”

Take last night’s Brit Awards, the music industry’s biggest night on the other side of the pond, where Miss RiRi rocked four different looks– from Dior Couture on the red carpet, a floral Oscar de La Renta to accept her award for Best International Female Solo Artist, to two show stoppers on stage… one more revealing than the other.

But we have to be honest here and say that we may just prefer Rihanna a bit more scantily clad.

The floral gown feels a little too “La Isla Bonita,” whereas both her watercolor-inspired red carpet look and the bodacious shoulder embellishments in her red performance gown look ill-fitted in two very different ways.

And after that disaster of a Grammys dress, it may be time for an intervention… or at least the search for a new stylist.

Do you think these looks are super fab or serious flop?

Don’t Be A Drag, Be A Queen: Enjoy the Oscars With A Black Swan Inspired HPNOTIQ Cocktail

What better way to enjoy Oscar night than with a bunch of your favorite ladies… with cocktails and dinner served by Chicago’s hottest drag divas!?

From a Chicago lady with her finger on the pulse, the 312 Dining Diva:

You knew it was gonna happen.

At least one spot in the city was going to throw a Black Swan-themed Oscars bash. And we’re not mad at Kit Kat Lounge and Supper Club, whose annual viewing parties have never disappointed.

This year’s event—beginning at 5:30pm on Feb. 27 with “red carpet” arrivals—includes dishes inspired by Wolfgang Puck’s legendary Governor’s Ball Oscar Party, dancers prancing around from University Ballet of Chicago, and “Black Swan” diva Aurora Sexton performing.

You can find HPNOTIQ cocktails on the menu any night of the week at Kit Kat, but on Oscar night, they’ll be whipping up a couple of special Black Swan-inspired $5 martinis.

You can be bad with the Black Swan– Effen vodka, Black Sambuca, garnished with a black feather — or be good and order up the White Swan with HPNOTIQ, Effen black cherry, a splash of St. Germain, and a splash of champagne garnished with a white feather.

No excuses, because entry is FREE! More info on the event flyer after the jump…

Cover Watch: Miley Cyrus’ First Interview As An Adult

On newsstands as of today, you can catch teen sensation Miley Cyrus on the cover of next month’s Marie Claire magazine in a beautiful Roberto Cavalli gown– showing us once again, that she’s all grown up.

But in the last few months, tabloids have been speculating that the Hannah Montana star may be growing up in the fast lane to disaster… or at least, making a few wrong turns along the way. But in the pages of Marie Claire, the starlet stays light-hearted and optomistic about her future.

“I’ve never, ever claimed to be perfect,” says Miley, claiming that in her case this is actually an advantage.

“I mean, since I’ve started the show, I’ve always said, ‘I’m gonna make mistakes.’ I know this. And I think that that is one of the reasons why people related to me. Why kids related to me,” she continued.

When asked about the now infamous ‘bong incident,’ Marie Claire points out that there’s many a college student doing the same, if not worse, than Miley is at her age.

“But they’re not Miley Cyrus,” she says. “They’re not role models. So for me it was a bad decision, because of my fans and because of what I stand for.”

Bottom line is, we believe her. Considering we’ve all seen our share of unhinged young Hollywood (read: Lindsay Lohan), and Miley seems to have a good head on her shoulders if you exclude the reasonable teenage shenanigans she’s recently been tied to. And we definitely don’t think she’s on the road to be the next Michael Jackson… which, apparently, her father (who graces the cover of this month’s GQ- coincidence?) does.

But I think we can all agree here, Miley– leave the Living Louder to the 21-year-olds.

Check out more on Miley’s cover shoot as well as a behind the scenes video over at Marie Claire! More photos from the cover shoot after the jump…

True Love: Barbie and Ken Back Together Again!

Seven years ago today, Barbie and Ken shocked the world by announcing their official split from one another. The iconic couple had been together since the early 1960s and everyone thought their love would last forever.

But all of that came to an end on Valentine’s Day in 2004, when Barbie and Ken went their separate ways… and Barbie got together with the newest Mattel addition. Blaine, a boogie-boarding Australian native with dreamy blonde hair and a beach bod, had won her over– leaving dear Ken heartbroken.

After all those years of separation, Ken and Barbie reunited once again on the set of last year’s Toy Story 3 and the rumor mill began to buzz about a possible reconciliation. And in these last few weeks Ken stepped up his game to win back his dream girl.

First, he winked at Barbie on Then he secretly jetted off to the original Magnolia Bakery in New York and was spotted designing a custom cupcake just for Barbie. He even declared his love for her on billboards, in magazines like Us Weekly and the Jumbotron in Times Square!

Phrases like “Barbie, I want you back,” “Barbie, you’re the only doll for me,” “Barbie, we were made for each other,” and “Barbie, we may be plastic but our love is real,” could be found everywhere in Ken’s pleading tone.

And now on this romantic day in history, it seems the two have put their past behind them to live happily ever after. But then again, could you really say no to a guy smooth enough (and rich enough to buy all that ad space) to announce his love for all the world to see? Do you think their love is made to last?

Here at HPNOTIQ, we’re raising a glass of Bubbles ‘N Blue to the happy couple!
