Ladies We Love: Mentorship and Beauty From Tracy Mourning

Tracy Wilson Mourning isn’t your typical basketball wife– the woman behind the former basketball star, Alonzo Mourning, is a passionate entrepeneur who has dedicated the past decade to helping young women in at-risk situations.

Since founding the Honey Shine Mentoring Program in 2002, an extension of the Alonzo Mourning Charities, Tracy has helped countless girls to strive for higher education and tackle issues like low self-esteem with positive experiences.

In addition to her charity work and keeping up appearances as a Miami socialite, Mourning has also developed Honey Child– a lifestyle and beauty brand focusing on the same essential qualities as the mentoring program.

“We want to encourage women to create that ritual for themselves. Far too often we put ourselves on the back burner and taking a bath and taking care of ourselves is something we have to do all the time,” Mourning recently told NBC Miami.

“That’s what life is all about, it’s about serving and giving back,” she continued. And Tracy is doing exactly that, not just with Honey Shine, but with her line of newly launched beauty products.

Each bottle of lotion, body oil, or fragrance comes with its own inspirational statement like that of the Goddess scent, which reads, “I am passionate, sexy, and empowerd. Led by spirit, my sweetest dreams are achieved.”

Not only are you taking care of yourself both mentally and physically with these products, but a portion of the proceeds also go to Tracy’s Honey Shine Mentoring Program. So go ahead, make yourself feel good and feel great knowing you’re helping others while doing so.

The Loss Of A Legend: Elizabeth Taylor

Over the years, there have been a great multitude of women who inspire us– women who worked against the odds, stayed composed and graceful under pressure and were generous to the core. Elizabeth Taylor was all of these things and more.

Taylor, who had been hospitalized since February in Los Angeles, passed away earlier this morning from congestive heart failure. Deeply saddened by her death, we can only look back and celebrate a woman who, beyond her iconic on-screen performances and influential style, was a true humanitarian.

Throughout the 1980s, Taylor campaigned to raise money for research as the epidemic swept the nation. serving as the Founding International Chairman for the American Foundation for AIDS Research, and in 1991 she established the Elizabeth Taylor AIDS Foundation to raise funding to provide services for HIV positive people.

As women who Live Louder, Elizabeth Taylor is more than just America’s icon of glamour, she is our idol and she will be deeply missed. Check out some legendary photos from Taylor’s long and beloved career after the jump… and be sure to read her interview with Kim Kardashian in this month’s Harper’s Bazaar. Continue reading

Cover Watch: Funny Girl Tina Fey on InStyle’s Color Issue Cover

There may have been a bit of a Photoshop mishap on the cover of next month’s issue of InStyle, but (missing torso and all) we’re happy to see our favorite funny girl gracing the cover of yet another fashion mag.

Recently celebrating the wrap of 30 Rock’s 100th episode, which will air on April 21st, Tina Fey quipped that another 100 episodes of the show and her and her fellow castmates “would drop dead.”

“It’s ironic that Liz Lemon is supposed to look kind of bedraggled,” Fey admits in the pages of InStyle, “She looks way more pulled together than I would if I were going to write for the show. I wouldn’t wear a blazer – I’d wear a sweat jacket.”

And although the comedienne may poke fun at her appearance, the inside pages of the magazine beg to differ.

Dressed impeccably chic in designers such as Jason Wu, Fey encompasses the the balance of power between intelligent and sexy gracefully– but that doesn’t mean she always wear the high-power hat at home. When asked who the boss of her is, Tina replied fankly, “My daughter.”

“Kids are definitely the boss of you. Anyone who will barge into the room while you are on the commode is the boss of you. And when you explain to them that you’re on the commode and that they should leave but they don’t? That’s a high-level boss.”

Looks like hit TV show and all, motherhood still takes its joyous toll– luckily Fey is equipped with the sense of humor to handle it. Check out more photos from the shoot after the jump!

Cover Watch: Rihanna Does Her Best Little Mermaid for Vogue

Rihanna may have fumbled when she tweeted (and swiftly deleted) her excitement over her first Vogue cover shoot with Annie Lebowitz, but now with the leak of April’s cover– the speculation is over.

Channeling a combination of The Little Mermaid and Jessica Rabbit, Rihanna is a far stretch from the recent style blunders we mentioned last month.

Even with her striking red locks, the pop star looks sophisticated and as effortless as the still ocean behind her.

We can’t wait to get our hands on the interview and see what RiRi dishes about! And if her “S&M” music video and Chelsea Lately interview say anything about her, it’s that she won’t be holding back.

We’ll see if we get the Chris Brown lowdown and whether or not there’s a new man on the horizon– we have our bets on Colin Farrell because the more denial we hear, the more we believe it.

Check out Rihanna Live Louder in the photos from the cover story after the jump…

Hot Topiq: Pauly D Lands Dream Job, Weeks Of GTL Isn’t It

The third season of Jersey Shore may be coming to a close, but that doesn’t mean our favorite tanned reality stars will be out of work.

MTV has already confirmed that the fourth season will be filmed with the cast’s roots in mind, shipping the debaucherous clan to Italy– which we’re sure will result in a train wreck that we won’t be able to keep our eyes from.

But the cast members have grown way past their initial Shore fame with commercials, nightlife appearances and even bigger deals like Snooki’s Rolling Stone cover as well as her new found love for the WWE.

And now fellow roommate and competitor for best coif in the house, Pauly D, announces that he’s hit the top of his DJ stride with the ultimate dream job [via PopEater]:

It looks like ‘Jersey Shore’ star Pauly D is ditching the shore for the desert this summer. The tanned and toned reality star just landed a job as the exclusive resident DJ at the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas, according to Life & Style.

“This is huge for me. It’s what I’ve always wanted, and I can’t wait to start,” he dished.

Pauly D, whose real name is Paul Delvecchio, has been touring clubs around the country and making guest DJ appearances in between filming seasons of the hit MTV show, which is currently in its third season.

“For me this is the biggest thing I could ever ask for,” he said about his new gig, which starts this summer. “I have been deejaying my entire life, and for the Palms to lock me down as a resident DJ, I’ve reached my ultimate goal.”

According to L&S, he’ll be the first-ever DJ to spin on all the Palms properties, which includes the Palms pool and the Rain and Moon hotel nightclubs.

So if you’re heading to the City of Sin, cash in on a GTL package from the Palms and end the night with your best fist pump. Maybe you’ll catch a glimpse of yourself on Pauly D’s new spinoff show
