We recently caught up with the charming and lovable hairstylist known as Derek J during last week’s Fashion’s Night Out event at Ricky’s. The Hair Battle Spectacular judge chatted with us about his latest season, what he’s looking forward to most about Fashion Week and what he loves most about the Big Apple. Check out the footage below!
A ways away from Lincoln Center — New York Fashion Week’s headquarters — fashion designer and Season 8 winner of Project Runway, Gretchen Jones, unveiled her contemporary Spring 2012 collection at Drive In Studios. A packed crowd lined up to take in the beautiful designs as they sipped on Harmonie Paloma cocktails.
Hpnotiq was fortunate enough to get an exclusive interview with the lady of the hour. Check out the video of Gretchen discussing her new line, her Colorado influence and what she’s looking forward to most about Fashion Week.
If you’re not a fashion junkie — like everyone in New York claims to be around this time of year — it can be really difficult to navigate the scene when you have no idea what anyone is talking about. Our dear friends over at Refinery29 are quite aware of this dilemma and have come up with a wonderful guide of Fashion Week catchphrases to help you through it. Check out the video below!
Yes, it’s true. I’m an event snob and I’m pretty skeptical about invitations that promise attendees the ultimate, “Girl’s Night Out.” Don’t get me wrong, I love the idea of dancing the night away with my BFFs, sipping classy cocktails and taking home a goodie bag full of beauty products and treats, but let’s keep it real, all events — or cocktails — are not created equally. Fortunately, that was so not the case at last Thursday’s Hpnotiq Harmonie event, “Stiletto War.” Continue reading →

1. “Countdown” Beyoncé
The hardest working woman in showbiz is back with her 4th album much to the delight of her “stans”, and this is song another Beyoncé banger waiting to happen. I love it when she talks about how hard her and Jay-Z ball. If you also get a weird sense of joy from that then you will love this hard hitting song.

This weekend, HPNOTIQ had the pleasure of witnessing first-hand the awesomeness known as CREEP!
The Brooklyn duo, made up of Lauren Flax and Lauren Dillard, began their start in Dillard’s apartment while drinking a 30-pack of beer, and have evolved into one of the hottest up-and-coming artists out today.
Since CREEP’s inception, the girls have toured in Europe and have collaborated with a slew of artists including Nina Sky, Andrew Wyatt, Holly Miranda, Kazu from Blonde Redhead and Planningtorock. We suggest you keep an eye out for them, because we are convinced there is much more to come!
Here at HPNOTIQ we always guarantee to serve up delicious sweet treats alongside our signature cocktails — from our custom candy bars and candied violet garnishes to the eye candy behind the bar! Check out one of our hottie bartenders mixing up a few specialty Harmonie cocktails at Covergirl’s MTV Movie Awards Beauty Bar, where celebs got introduced to their newest violet BFF and got pampered before the big event.
Like any award show weekend, gifting suites and swag stations are in full effect. Covergirl cosmetics teamed up with HPNOTIQ to make our own mark on the MTV Movie Awards with — what else? — a beauty bar!
Beauty Bar featured the crème de la crème of the beauty world, including hair services by Wella; blowouts, treatments and a braid bar by Nine Zero One salon (who’s hosting the soiree), manis & pedis, and makeup applications by celebrity makeup artists Amy Nadine (Lauren Conrad, Whitney Port) and Liza Zaretsky (Taylor Swift, Katy Perry).
Check out our girl Kelsi Smith get pampered like the proud new owner of a silver moon man in the video below which also features the three essential rules to airbrush tanning by Fake Bake.
Be sure to keep an eye out for our exclusive interview with Amy Nadine right here on the HPNOTIQ blog, and check out photos of Aubrey O’Day, Stephanie Pratt and Karina Smirnoff enjoying a day of pampering at the event on our Facebook page!
