Ladies We Love: Mindy Kaling Proving Girls Run The World

By now, many of us have probably gotten around to putting our names on the pre-order list for Mindy Kaling’s book, Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? (And Other Concerns), due out in November. For those who haven’t, well, get to it!

Kaling, who most know as the comically needy Kelly Kapoor on NBC’s The Office, seems to have a good grasp on the world — taking it by the funny bone and proving that, as Beyoncé would say, girls run it.

As an actress, Kaling knows a thing or two about delivery but more importantly, she’s also often the one behind the scenes poking fun at herself and how we all (us girls, that is) think.

Nothing is more telling of her willingness to fully embrace our sometimes cray-cray inner-workings than when she puts her pen to paper and luckily for all of us, an excerpt from the highly anticipated book is now available online

From what we’ve seen, the book reads like an adult version of Are You There God? It’s Me Margaret but as if Margaret grew up to have all the right answers after all those prepubescent hardships and, dare we say it, with Mindy as our higher power.

Unlike glamorizing and scandalizing adulthood like a certain book aimed at Kaling’s generation (eh-hem, Sweet Valley Confidential), Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me acts as a guide to not being ashamed of Facebook stalking the cute guy who makes our coffee at Starbucks and also teaches the guys a thing or two about how to get our attention — the right way.

So we’ll go ahead and say it, if everyone was a little more honest about their crazy like Mindy, the world might be a better place. Actually, we totally take that back… maybe a little mystery does us all well.

Retail Therapy: Wedges For A Fast Approaching Spring

With a few warmer days sprinkled in with this everlasting winter, we’ve slowly been unpacking those open-toed shoes (even if a pair of cute slouchy socks may be hiding that pedicure). And although we may not be there quite yet, Spring is fast approaching and there’s no better way to kill time than a little online shopping [via SheFinds]:

Don’t get stuck this spring without a great pair of wedges. While it’s easy to run into a spa and get a pedicure once the weather finally turns, it’s much of a bigger pain to go shopping for the perfect spring shoes. Do your future self a favor and check out the Zappos sale now!

With tons of wedges under $100, you’ll be happy to save yourself the hectic runaround for the perfect pair of Spring shoes, and your wallet will thank you too.

Rihanna May Need a Stylist Intervention…

By now, we’ve gotten used to Rihanna’s sometimes questionable style. The pop princess always pushes it to that fine line between simply amazing and, well, “what was she thinking!?”

Take last night’s Brit Awards, the music industry’s biggest night on the other side of the pond, where Miss RiRi rocked four different looks– from Dior Couture on the red carpet, a floral Oscar de La Renta to accept her award for Best International Female Solo Artist, to two show stoppers on stage… one more revealing than the other.

But we have to be honest here and say that we may just prefer Rihanna a bit more scantily clad.

The floral gown feels a little too “La Isla Bonita,” whereas both her watercolor-inspired red carpet look and the bodacious shoulder embellishments in her red performance gown look ill-fitted in two very different ways.

And after that disaster of a Grammys dress, it may be time for an intervention… or at least the search for a new stylist.

Do you think these looks are super fab or serious flop?
