At the beginning of Season 8 of the now Lifetime hit series, Jones tugged at our heartstrings with a rags-to-hopefully-riches tale. Her sustainable clothing line, MothLove, with an environmentally conscious focus on a minimal and romantic Bohemian aesthetic, had left her with a nearly empty bank account and what we sensed was a fairly difficult upbringing.
But as the Portland, Oregon native started to win those challenges back to back, her ego began to inflate and she could, at times, be a bit much– at one point even being called a “bully” by the usually super supportive mother hen, Tim Gunn, during one of the challenges.
And although we’re glad she was able to humble herself by the time of her win, which included returning to an empty apartment and failed relationship– all documented on national television, we can relate to the age old dilemma of being a strong female in the workplace.
Jones plans on making the move to New York City to continue work as a designer and we’re sure that this tough cookie will be able to pick up the pieces and prove her clout in the fashion industry.
“I’ve really embraced this transitional time. Having a true ‘phoenix rising from the ashes’ moment is not something many people get,” she recently told People Magazine. “I don’t have anything holding me back, and in actuality, that is a luxury. It’ll make me a brighter version of myself, and that will translate into my future designs.”
