Over the years, there have been a great multitude of women who inspire us– women who worked against the odds, stayed composed and graceful under pressure and were generous to the core. Elizabeth Taylor was all of these things and more.
Taylor, who had been hospitalized since February in Los Angeles, passed away earlier this morning from congestive heart failure. Deeply saddened by her death, we can only look back and celebrate a woman who, beyond her iconic on-screen performances and influential style, was a true humanitarian.
Throughout the 1980s, Taylor campaigned to raise money for research as the epidemic swept the nation. serving as the Founding International Chairman for the American Foundation for AIDS Research, and in 1991 she established the Elizabeth Taylor AIDS Foundation to raise funding to provide services for HIV positive people.
As women who Live Louder, Elizabeth Taylor is more than just America’s icon of glamour, she is our idol and she will be deeply missed. Check out some legendary photos from Taylor’s long and beloved career after the jump… and be sure to read her interview with Kim Kardashian in this month’s Harper’s Bazaar.
